How does AI expand this query?

Enter a query — see the fan-out AI search engines derive from it: related questions, comparisons, purchase-intent variants. Plan your content around it.

How query fan-out works

  1. AI search engines never stop at your literal query. Behind the scenes they expand it into related sub-questions, gather an answer for each, and merge everything into one response. That expansion is called query fan-out — and if your content only targets the head query, you are absent from the answers built on the sub-questions.
  2. This tool hands your query to a language model and generates the fan-out an AI engine could plausibly derive, grouped four ways: related questions, comparison and alternative queries, purchase-intent variants, and implicit-intent phrasings. Results come back in the page language.

An honest caveat: this is an estimate. Nobody outside the engines can see the exact sub-queries ChatGPT or Gemini generates at a given moment, so the tool gives you a realistic projection — and two runs on the same query may differ slightly.

How to read the fan-out result

Read the lists as a content plan. Related questions expose gaps your current page leaves open, the comparison rows are the scenes where you get named next to competitors, and the purchase-intent variants sit closest to a buying decision. You rarely need a new page per row — most gaps close with one clear section added to a page you already have. AI answers change every day. Stay in the know.

If you're not showing up today, the customer goes to your competitor; if you are, you need to hold that position. Either way, the first step is the same: start measuring.
